What to Do When You're feeling Stuck

Do you sometimes feel stuck and find yourself on a rollercoaster ride? You see yourself going in a direction that may not be aligned with your goals and visions; however, you keep getting stuck in the same situation over and over again.

A big reason why we consistently find ourselves in the same position is a result of our past thinking, programs, and conditions.

Every human being has been programmed from the time they were infants. It started with our parents teaching us right from wrong, and then to our friends, teachers, coaches, peers, spouses, etc.

This very "programming" is the why we interpret the things around us the way we do.

If we grew up in an environment where our parents were very strict and we feared speaking our truth, chances are as an adult we will experience challenges voicing our opinion to others, having a fear of authority, and living in accordance to society's standards of what we should be.

Or if you grew up in a household where every day your family struggled to make ends meet, you will likely take that on with you to adulthood. Regardless of your current financial situation, you will have a financial set point similar to that that you are familiar with.

If you made more money, you will behave in ways to bring you back to that set point that you are familiar with.

This is how strong our conditioning and programs have on our lives. As humans, we are made to learn but it is very difficult for us to unlearn.

Mark Fournier in his program Life Mastery - A Course of Action compared the way we learn to that of a lobster trap; "once something gets inside, it's nearly impossible to remove".

Thus we need to be very careful of what we let into our subconscious minds by what we repeatedly think and do. This does not mean that we are doomed to our past conditioning. In fact, more and more research confirm we are able to reprogram our past conditioning to ones that best helps us attain our goals and live more prosperous lives.

One of those ways is to replace our current habitual thinking and actions.

This is a simple concept that is very difficult to do. Why? Because any time we start to make a change and act in a way that is inconsistent with our current beliefs, resistance comes up!

This resistance causes many people to stop and go back to what is comfortable and consistent with their current beliefs.

The irony is, if we remain with the new thinking and actions long enough, it will then get into our subconscious mind and becomes a habit. Once this happens, it becomes automatic and familiar.

The old disempowered behaviour and way of being will no longer be comfortable to us.

It's like when someone gives up a particular food, let's say sugar. At first, it's very difficult, near impossible for them to do so. However, with consistent effort it becomes easier and then a natural way of being. If they ever ate something with a lot of sugar by accident, they would feel very sick as a result!

This is similar to when we are trying to change our thoughts and behaviours. It is very uncomfortable and difficult at first, however, we need to keep going and pushing past our comfort zone.

As we stay the course and take consistent actions, we are then able to reprogram our subconscious mind. At this level, we get in the flow and are no longer held bondage and are limited by our past conditioning that does not serve us.
