It’s time to get real about your business finances
So, let me ask you… have you taken a good, honest look at your business finances yet?
If not, I'm going to be tough on you today and say if you don't have a clear target for your business, you might just be running a hobby, not a business.
Here’s the thing, running a business means knowing exactly what makes you money and how profitable you really are.
It’s about stepping into your role as a CEO and owning your numbers.
Think through…
- What your biggest money-makers are right now?
- Are you getting a strong ROI (return on investment) for the time, money, and energy you’re pouring into your business?
- Is your marketing strategy actually turning into dollars—or just creating busy work? (#behonest!)
These are the kinds of questions successful entrepreneurs aren’t afraid to ask themselves.
Why?
Because they know that clarity is power. When you understand what’s driving your sales (and what’s not), you can stop spinning your wheels on activities that don’t move the needle and focus on what works.
Now, let’s break it down so it feels manageable:
- Set your annual goals. Yes, this includes financial goals! Get specific about the revenue you want to bring in this year.
- Account for seasonality. Every business has ups and downs. For example, if you’re in retail, your busiest months might be Q4, while summer slows down. Plan for those cycles.
- Allocate your sales goals across your offers. How much revenue do you want each product or service to generate?
- Understand your numbers. For example, how many clients, units, or sales do you need, to hit your goals each month? Break it all the way down.
- Track your progress consistently. Weekly or monthly check-ins are non-negotiable. This is where you figure out what’s working, what’s not, and what adjustments need to happen.
- Pivot where needed. Sometimes the plan needs a tweak, and that’s okay! Leaders stay flexible and strategic.
Listen, this doesn’t have to be boring or scary. You can make this process fun! I’ve helped countless clients with this, and can help you too!
Use tools like spreadsheets, apps, or dashboards to track your progress. Celebrate your wins—big or small—and reward yourself when you hit milestones.
Create a vision board for your financial goals to keep you inspired and motivated.
The fact that you’re here reading this, means you were not meant to play small. You were meant to have a thriving business, doing work you love, while building financial freedom.
But that starts with showing up for your business and owning your role as a leader.
So, let’s stop hiding from the numbers, okay?
It’s time to step up, take control, and play full out. Because the success you dream of? It’s 100% within your reach—but only if you’re willing to go for it.
You got this!
