Know when to Chill

Okay, so this week I found it difficult to write today's newsletter. I had different things I was working on and found it difficult to focus on one topic.

I then stopped and meditated on a prayer from A Course in Miracles that reads:

I am here only to be truly helpful.
I am here to represent Him Who sent me.
I do not have to worry about what to say or what to do,
because He Who sent me will direct me.
I am content to be wherever He wishes, knowing He goes there with me.
I will be healed as I let Him teach me to heal.

I recite this prayer every Sunday before I send out my newsletter because that is my greatest wish and desire; to be truly helpful.

So as soon as I opened my eyes after reciting this, I looked back to my laptop and noticed the battery warning that it is running low on power and to plug in my computer so I don't lose my work.

My mind quickly flashed to an email I sent my sister this past week basically telling her to chill out, relax and recharge her batteries. Hence, the answer to my question on what to write about was revealed which is the importance of being able to take some down time and relax.

You see my sister (who is also my business partner at Elite Wellness Services Inc.) works crazy hours as well and is constantly working on a project and had a proposal she needed to send out by Wednesday.

For years she's never been sick, and then in one week, she got pink eye, a cold, and a sinus infection! Yes, she has a one year old which any parent who has kids in daycare knows they are always getting sick. However, I remember being called to tell her to take time for herself, shut everything off and just relax! Go to the spa and just relax.
I wrote last week about the importance of owning your power, but I also believe that part of owning your power includes knowing when to "re-charge your battery" in order to sustain your efforts.

This is not a free pass to be lazy and complacent and not to continue to work towards your goals, but it means to be in tune with your body and spirit and to know when it's time to relax, slow down and recharge.
This is something that I work on myself and have to constantly remind myself to do. I know this feeling of overwhelm.

As an employee, business owner, coach, and mentor, Mom, wife, sister, daughter, and friend, there are times when I've felt overwhelmed with my schedule and the many demands in my life. It then gets to the point where it affects the quality time I spend with my family, especially my son who needs and deserves my attention and the best of me.

One thing I know is that kids can sense our energy and feed off of it, so if you are a parent of young (and older) kids they can sense and are in tune with the energy we are emitting. The energy we give off spreads and affects those around us, so it is imperative that we take the time to honour our feelings, re-connect to our inner guide and ensure we are in alignment with a greater and better energy. This allows us to tap into the inner voice that is always guiding us.

When we feel overwhelmed and anxious, it blocks the intuitive voice and all we hear is the fearful voice of the ego, which keeps us in a constant state of overwhelm. This is not easy to do, I know, but is something that I constantly work on daily.
One thing that has helped me in this department is my daily meditation practice. I can honestly say that since taking up my meditation practice I've experienced a lesser degree of overwhelm and anxiety (which is huge for someone with a mild case of OCD).
